Merzouga is one of the most worth visiting beautiful towns in Morocco it’s about 450 miles from Marrakech and close to the Algerian border. you can even see Algeria but going to the apex of mountain dues. Morocco’s Sahara Desert is vast and extensive comprising four peak desert dunes referred to as Merzouga, Zagora, M’hamid and Erg Chegaga. Each part of Morocco’s Sahara Desert offers travellers a unique experience. Merzouga is known for its vast and golden Erg Chebbi Dunes which are hundreds of meters high.

how to get to Merzouga:

Depending on your starting point and budget there are multiple options to get to Merzouga. one of the most comfortable ways is by an organized trip or by renting a car This gives you the most flexibility in terms of stops on the road to visit all the small towns on your way. However, if you want to save time you might take a flight from Casablanca to Errachidia with Royal Air Maroc. There are some nice hotels in Errachidia to spend the night at and in the morning you can catch a taxi from the centre to Rissani and then another one to Merzouga while you arrive the caretakers of the camp you booked will be waiting for you with camels or 4×4 depends of your choice to get you deep in the Sahara were are the tents are located.

The best time to go to Merzouga:

The best time to go to the desert in Morocco is between October and April. Temperatures range from 15-25°C during the day to 5-15°C at night.

The summer is hot with temperatures up to 50°C and it will be dangerous to go into the dunes during the day. You would leave Merzouga just before sunset and return early, just after sunrise. You will not be able to stay for a few days in the camps.
